Why DigiByte
A truly decentralized blockchain, since 2014.

DigiByte at a glance

DigiByte is one of the most decentralized blockchains in the world. No ICO, no premine, no CEO-founder — community governance and open-source development since January 2014.

Created by Jared Tate, DigiByte was designed to be fast, secure and truly decentralized. The community has taken over development, faithful to decentralization principles.

What makes DigiByte unique

5 mining algorithms

SHA-256, Scrypt, Qubit, Skein, Odocrypt — resistance to hashrate centralization. No single actor dominates the network. Algorithm rotation (Odocrypt changes every 10 days) reinforces decentralization.

Among the fastest

15-second blocks, native SegWit, Dandelion++ for privacy. Among the fastest UTXO networks, with near-zero fees.

DigiAsset — native NFT

NFT standard built into DigiByte. Create, transfer and verify digital assets directly on-chain, without complex smart contracts.

Open source & community-driven

No company, no governance token, no CEO. Code is open, decisions are collective, development is volunteer-based.

Fair distribution

No ICO, no premine. All DGB have been fairly mined since the genesis block. No privileged distribution.

Enhanced security

DigiShield and MultiShield protect against difficulty attacks. Native SegWit since 2017. Active and secure network for over 10 years.

DigiByte technical innovations

DigiShield

Real-time difficulty adjustment algorithm, protecting against 'pool hop' attacks. Later adopted by Dogecoin, Zcash and others.

Odocrypt

Mining algorithm that changes every 10 days, designed for FPGAs. Makes specialized ASICs obsolete, promoting mining decentralization.

Dandelion++

Network-level privacy protocol that obscures the origin of transactions, protecting user privacy.

MultiShield

Evolution of DigiShield that adjusts difficulty independently for each of the 5 mining algorithms.
